Why It’s Moronic

I think my sarcastic headline is explanation enough. I’ve noticed a trend among celebrities that needs to be stopped: They think starting any sentence with a phrase like “I’m a firm believer...” or “It’s very important to me that...” not only bolsters the rest of the statement, but also makes them appear intellectual, educated about the topic of conversation, and strong in their convictions.

The truly intelligent understand that it’s just the age-old pageant technique of saying something—anything!—with confidence and banking on the possibility of dazzling the world with sparkly eyes and gleaming teeth.
